These Dancing Shoes


Women know all too well that brand new high-heeled shoes can cause pain in your feet and often low back pain as well. Poor footwear in general can cause pain in other areas such as knees, hips, low back and all the way up the spine. It is recommend that the best shoes for your body are ones that provide adequate support and are relatively flat in nature.


Here are a number of methods to reduce the pain on those high-heels days:

• Feet tend to accumulate fluid and swell throughout the day so avoid shopping for shoes in the afternoon or evening. 

• Select a heel height that you can walk in gracefully. 

• Shoes with a heel height of no more than 2 inches are the best choice. By compromising in the height of the heel, the arched posture associated with high heels is still created without sending you toppling out of them.

• One of the most unstable styles is one with a recessed heel.

• Shoes with many thin straps should be avoided. The straps indent and dig into your skin causing pain and swelling.

• Choose shoes that have good support for the arches of your feet.

• Be sure to place a cushioning pad into the front of the shoe to pad the balls of your feet and also to prevent your toes from getting wedged into the front of the shoe.

• Take frequent breaks from wearing your high heels through-out the day. Take your shoes off, stretch out the tensed muscles, wiggle your toes and make circles with your ankles to help promote circulation.

• The following day you should consider wearing a low, comfortable shoe in order to rest your muscles. Give your feet a nice massage or
