How frequently will I need to have a re-adjustment?

Frequency of treatment for each person is determined based on their individual needs. A few only require one treatment while the majority will require a structured treatment plan to resolve their issues.

What is that cracking sound during an adjustment?

Just like the sound you hear when you crack your knuckles, this is the sound of the dissolved gases being release of the dissolved gas from the fluid in the joint space. When the surfaces of a joint get separated, this reduces the pressure inside the joint cavity. The gases in the synovial fluid are then released forming a space for air. When the space then collapses upon itself, this results in a clicking sound. The patient can continue to experience the effects of this process anywhere from a few seconds to a few hours while gas is slowly reabsorbed.

Are Chiropractors considered to be doctors?

Health care legislation recognizes Doctor of Chiropractic (chiropractors) as doctors. Chiropractors are recognized and regulated under the same Health Professions Act in Alberta as medical doctors, dentists and optometrists.

Chiropractors are really no different from any other health care providers – all they want to do is help! The health of you and your body is of their utmost concern.
