Waves of Sleep on a Water Base Pillow

In a follow-up to our previous blog titled ‘Trouble with Sleep?’, we examined the benefits of developing healthy sleep habits. One of the considerations mentioned was determining what is needed to get sufficiently comfortable in your bed.

We suggested that to help with hip or back pain, try using a pillow between the knees. As an alternative to sleeping on your side, you may be able to tolerate sleeping on your back with a body pillow behind you to take the pressure off your shoulders. Not replacing your mattress when it is worn out or too soft can often exacerbate back pain. In contrast, sleeping on a bed that's too firm can exacerbate hip and shoulder pain. Make sure that your sleep surface is the right fit for you.

Dr Vollrath has a recommendation that might be of interest to those that suffer from neck pain and/or other upper body pains and stiffness. Have you heard about the Chiroflow waterbase pillows? These water-based pillows provide luxurious comfort while sleeping and provide excellent support for the head and neck. The pillows are constructed of a thick, hypoallergenic cushion that sits over the top of a water base.

Clinical trials have shown that water base pillows can improve the quality of sleep whilst significantly reducing neck pain. Each chiropractic water base pillow can hold between 3 to 5 litres of water. These pillows can be personalized to fit each person by altering the amount of water in the pillow, which proportionately adjusts the pillow's thickness to accommodate each sleeper's needs. As the pillow's primary support is water, the allowance for adjustment throughout the night by properly cradling the head and neck as the sleeper switches positions.
