Summer Activities That Promote a Healthy Back

Hello Summer!! The sunshine and warmer weather mean there are plenty of activities to look forward to. Whether it’s heading out of town on vacation or spending late nights sitting around the campfire. The list of fun activities goes on and on.

To get the most out of the summer months, you need to stay healthy and active. Maintaining a good diet and getting regular exercise will help protect overall wellness. It’s essential to pay extra attention to those hard-working body parts like your back.

We have put together a list of perfect activities for enjoying the outdoors in the summer months.

Swimming
Swimming is an excellent sport for strengthening muscles and alleviating back pain. Being in the water creates a weightless atmosphere, reducing pressure in the back and leading to less pain.

There is nothing better than jumping in a pool on a hot summer day. Take a dip and allow the water to improve the health of the body and back.

Yoga
Yoga isn’t just for the summer months, but many studios head to the peacefulness of the great outdoors in nearby parks and green spaces. Yoga is a fantastic source of exercise for the back and the rest of the entire body.

The many yoga poses will stretch out those stiff muscles, strengthen the body as a whole, and reduce any pressure or tension felt in the back. Ultimately, enhancing your health and leaving you pain-free.

Hiking
Hiking is an excellent summer activity. It doesn’t even have to be overly strenuous to reap the health benefits. Simply walking around the block is enough. Walking or hiking is a great low-impact activity. If you chronically suffer from low back pain, prepare for the walk by getting a good stretch.

In the community of St Albert, we have several trails, find one you like and go for a long, slow walk. You may find that your body loosens up, and your back begins to relax as the walk progresses.

Don’t Forget Chiropractic Care.
Along with these activities, it’s also a great idea to add chiropractic care to the mix. Dr. Vollrath can alleviate restrictions found in the spine, promote the overall wellness of the area, and leave you with a pain reduced, stronger, more capable spine. Adding that kind of care and even one of those activities can lead to a healthier spinal column than ever before.
