Knee Pain No More

Did you know that many cases of knee pain can be treated with chiropractic care?

As a musculoskeletal specialist, Dr. Vollrath is very familiar with treating knee and joint pain. Knee pain can harm your lifestyle, causing you to reduce your activity levels or start taking more pain medications.

Kinesiology is the scientific study of human or non-human body movement, addressing physiological, biomechanical, and psychological dynamic principles and mechanisms of action. Kinesiology is a significant part of foundational chiropractic training. The entire makeup of our body is connected to one another in some way.

For example, the knee bone connects to the leg bone, then connects to the hip bone. Finally, the hip bone is connected to the pelvis, which is ultimately connected to the spine.

Therefore, an adjustment on either a misaligned spinal column or pelvis could help to improve the level of function in the knee.

Dr. Vollrath works with the spine through manual adjustments. Therefore, he can help decrease the knee pain you may be experiencing.

The most common cause of knee pain is being overweight. The extra weight adds additional force to the body's joints, causing muscle disparity and structural misalignments. The effects are felt explicitly in the low back, pelvis, hip, knee, and ankles.

Other known causes of knee pain include:
• Patellar tendinitis
• Knee bursitis
• Meniscus tears
• An anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear
• Bone fractures
• Rheumatoid arthritis
• Osteoarthritis

While not every cause of knee pain listed above can or should be treated with chiropractic treatment, many of them can be done effectively.
